Bad Traffic and No Comments

July 24th, 2005 by lokgp

Due to my blog’s very bad traffic and no demand for my blog, I am feeling very frustated. It seems like noone is interested on what i blog. And I failled to receive any comments.

After some criticism and harsh commetns from my friend, Mr. Kenny Lee, I decided to try a total revamp of styles and topics. But my strong desire to blog about Malaysia does not die off.

Good medicines are hard to take but it will be best for my improvements.

Thanks Kenny Lee!!!

Citrawarna Malaysia 2005

July 15th, 2005 by lokgp

Here’s another trip to someplace beautiful. Malaysia Citrawarna 2005. It’s kinda hard to get the tickets. First I went to Sungai Wang to buy the tickets and the MusicValley tells me that the tickets are sold out. Even tickets in Lot 10 are sold out. All tickets are sold out 3 days ago!!! SHIT!!

But luckily I went off to Stadium Merdeka where the event was held to try my luck there, and fortunately tickets are still sold at the entrance. Each ticket cost you around RM 10.00.

So for the suckers that did not want to go with me, BOOO!!!

Citra
A night view of the the festival….

I finally get into the place and I was able to watch the show. I waited so long for the YDP Agong to arrive. The show start at 8.30 pm. I was there by 7.30 pm.

The YDP Agong sits on the stage yonder

This festival is on the dances of Malaysia and it ASEAN conterparts. It has dances from Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Phillipines….. can’t remember…

That’s me doing a ….."Walau! Got LEng Lui weh!!!"

To tell you the truth, the whole dances are ….not that  quite good….

It starts of with a tale of Paresmeswara reaching Malaya. Melaka country. Then it goes on about China coming to Malaya for trade. Next, it is about Islam coming to Malaysia and how Islam has become part of our culture, influencing our dances and living styles.

The flag show indicating China influence or something…. Later all these flags are going to be mopping cloths…..walau….. no need buy cloth anymore!!!

The sound system are pretty bad. :-O And you won’t be able to hear a thing on what the narrator is trying to say. So I end up going up and down the stadium looking for a better sound.

100_9959

This is at the stage where the drummers play the drums…Tok Chang Tok Chang!! Where is the lion dance????!!!! No Ang Pau ah? Lai lai lai!!!!

Then as a finale for the show, dancers from other countries performed. The Koreans are the funniest. They swing their head around and around as if they have taken ecstasy. Too bad no photos. They are too far away…..

100_9964

The overall finale….everyone hand in hand….sing Lee Hom’s SARS song…Hand-in-Hand…..

They then gather together and perform a last single dance, the Sarawak dance….
A total of 3,000 dancers took part in this festival.
It’s really great for the cultural fans….but for me? Ehem….you say leh?

Maxis 3G Launch

July 15th, 2005 by lokgp

I was at the Maxis 3g launching at the KLCC (Kuala Lumpur Convention Center).
One step into it gives a sensation of COOL!!!

The whole area seems funky! There is a skateboard ring at the center of the room, with skateboarders practising up and down. With those great lights circling all over the room.

And holy shit!! Look at the babes! Haha! Those ladies around, showing and explaining 3G applications to the visitors.

So in short, maxis is launching its 3G services. You can have video calls, video mails ( replacing voice mails), and everything concerned with video.
(The call charges are the same as voice calls charges from now until next year)

You can do home surveiliance with 3G and your phone (cost you around RM 900 per camera).

Surf the Net on your lap top using 3G PCMCIA card ( cost you another RM 1000 for the card).
It is relatively fast. The speed is up to 386kbps! That’s Streamyx old speed.

And they claim that it is faster than WiFi…. due to too much user….
One important thing is that if you are in a 3G area (klang valley only), you will be connected to 3G.

If its not available, you will be automatically connected to GPRS or WAP…which is slower. But the important thing is that you will not feel the transition.

Maxis3
One of the skateboarders doing a trick….

They demonstrated watching your favourite soccer games and news channel on the phone.
CNN and MSNBC….is under one package at RM 20 per month. Every other channel is RM 8 per month.

Hmm…. Digi is giving their TV channels for free as long as you are on EDGE right??? Dunno…

Their best claim is that it is the first prepaid that has 3G. True indeed…
But the charges? 1 cent per 1kb…. 1Mb is ….—> RM 10.00

How big is a picture file? Haha…just imagine the money flowing out….
And they tested…with a kb indicator….every webpage opened is at around 40kb to70kb…no downloads yet!!!! That is around RM 0.40 per site!!!!

Well, you could opt for the unlimited package. User pays a flat RM 120 per month for unlimited usage.
Not including services leh…

Maxis1

Download a midi song is at RM 3.00…walau eh…

I also want to be maxis….money flowing into my pockets….

The best part is that is the realtime traffic viewing. Just Rm 0.50 per 30 seconds view. I think it really helps in planning your travel…

There are 3G phones on sale there. Nokia, Motorola and Sony Ericsson.

I ask one of the promoter on whether 3G phones are prone to the threats of spams…
And she said no… but it is internet right? Just imagine your phones filled with spams… You would have to install Add Aware or pop up blocker ….hahaha!!!

And guys and gals who want to have a peek of 3G, you can go to KL Convention Center at the back of Suria KLCC. I heard maxis is going to have another show in July.
