Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Review

Monday, July 25th, 2005

Harry

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is out! And I have had a great opporturnity to be able to grab my hands on one…. for totally FREE!!!

As lame as the title seems, if we translated it into BM , it will means —-> Harry Potter dan Putera Setengah Darah…. someone must have sucked the prince’s blood.

And the malay readers will start saying it as a vampire book. Proclaimed HARAM book. And there goes about this book destroying and intoxicating the young readers mind to believe in the existence of witches and wizards.

This book… is pretty good. It is worthy of the long 2 years wait ( for fans of harry potter like me). This book is much much much better than the old Order of the Phoenix! The order of the phoneix was a total crap. It is one of the worst stories i have ever read….and not to describe that it is very long ( the book is 700 pages ) just to finish the damn book.

But again i think that the title of Half-Blood Prince SUCKS!! There is nothing much related to the prince at all. And Voldemort did not appeared at all.

This time the book bring the reader through less heroism of Harry, and it is more CSI-Miami like. It guide the readers slowly and reveals the secret for the destroyal of Voldemort.

And in this story, at last Albus Dumbledore is dead. Killed by the (Half-Blood Prince)….. I just dun wanna spoil the reader on the storyline—- you gotta read the book—– sigh….. I am never a great fan of Harry cause he is just some stupid young guy with lots and lots of guts. No brains at all.

But Dumbledore is totally adorable! And he is dead. I would rather say that the next and the 7th and Final book will bring us the death of Voldemort and an end to the Harry Potter series. Ya indeed, I hate the idea of Dumbledore dead.

And then there is these teenagers love stories… love stories of Harry, Ron, Hermione. They really sucks! Who care the fuck what their love life is? I must say that there are times when reading the book, I thought that I am reading a teenage love story. Sometimes these chapters are quite long too…with those pancing ikan style love story…yes no  … yes no….. Cheh! Just dragged the story longer.

All in all, minus the love stories…we will be able to read the whole story at around 400 pages. But well, I must admit that this love stories are much better that the inert details and Harry’s frustation recorded in the Order of  the Phoenix. So for fans out there, expect no stupid adventure, and be prepared for very strong and complicated plot.

Malaysia Transportation

Sunday, July 24th, 2005

After a long effort, I am finally going to blog about Malaysia Transportations. Sorry, Cyndy, that it took me so long. But here it is!!!

Here’s a map describing all the routes of the trains.

Kltransit4

Route Maps for the trains

You can visit this site for more extensive information on the trains.

http://www.kiat.net/malaysia/KL/transit.html

This is primary going to be on the various transportation found in the city of KL.

The best way to move around in KL is of course by……. TRAINS!!!!

There are STAR, PUTRA and also MONORAIL in KL.

100_9989

The KTM snailling down under….

This is the KTM commuter train, one of the most classic modern transportation found here in KL. It has….. very very long yellow body…. comfortable nice chair….. very very long travel distance ( which also amounts to very very long wait ). Thumbs down.

But the KTM does bring people crossing over from state to state.

Let’s have a look at the interior….

100_9991

Hmmm…it’s designed perfectly for standing……

It does not look very encouraging is it? So does the platform for boarding…

100_9986

The modern world of KL…..

But then again, let’s not forget that it the most classic of KL’s modern transportation.

As we travel slowly to KL Sentral…. by the KTM of course!!!

101_0010

A bird’s view inside KL Sentral

You would be amazed that it look so alike an airport. And this is also what the Malaysian call as ‘Inland Airport’.

101_0013

The bird flew out and got hit by the car….

It is of international standard with alot of cultures, stalls, sellers, and lots and lots of advertisement…….

101_0017

Oh SHIT! I am in TM Celcom Zone! Better hide my hotlink!!!

And the stalls….. business here is thriving!!!

101_0007

Candies for you and me! :-)

Wow! Just think about going overseas just to buy chocolate…. I can just get it here anyway…. hahaha….

Then lets hop on into the PUTRA LRT!

The LRT are one of the best transport in KL. It distances are just nice and the frequency of the LRTs are very high.

Every 6 minutes, there will be another PUTRA LRT passing by.

101_0026

You can just feel the speed eh, mate?

But be very careful not to jump into this:

101_0034_1

The track of the LRT….

This is 700V of electricity! I hears that there was once a thief who snatched a young lady (why must it always be old lady) hand bag and tried to run across the platform as it looks very safe. But in the end… he just became the Kentucky Fried Man… brought to you by Putra LRT.

Next, I am going to show you the Monorail. It is a newly build transport. The space is cramped and it is not that frequent. And guess what…. it is a single rail train designed by Malaysian.

It mainly connects people to the Bermuda Golden Triangle, where young people got lost …. it’s a great transport to move around  KL. Nice aircond and everything.

101_0021

The monorail….HSBC bought it?

It has one of the best advertising schemes ever. Everything is advertised! This is the platform:

100_7440

Wow! Nice body platform! PeeWEET!!!!

And have a look at the interior:

100_7445

Look at that….. only monorail gives you a great view of KL

Your ticket pays for everything but no girls included….

And then there is the ERL or the KLIA Express.

100_9988

The fastest train in Malaysia!

You can board this train from KL Sentral to KLIA airport or vice versa. This train is really fast. And it does reaches it claim of precisely 28 minutes reaching its destination.

Here, I am going to show you the good old bus…

101_0040

The Bus that travel on the road…. very "Ong" number!

The buses does indeed take you to a large area of places. The fares maybe cheaper but no doubt, they are prone to traffic jams and cars… But it is good enough.

This is the Klang Bus Station:

101_0038

Need a ride to Klang, brother?

KL is the centers for these buses. And be very careful when travelling with buses. There are alot of different main stations that bring you to your destinations. So watch out! Typical stations are at Bangkok Bank, Kotaraya, Klang Bus Station, and Jalan Silang.

So if any guys and gals reading this post, and have any views or comments regarding Malaysia Transportation, please leave your comments! Just tell me which transportation is the best! I think that PUTRA LRT is the best!

Bad Traffic and No Comments

Sunday, July 24th, 2005

Due to my blog’s very bad traffic and no demand for my blog, I am feeling very frustated. It seems like noone is interested on what i blog. And I failled to receive any comments.

After some criticism and harsh commetns from my friend, Mr. Kenny Lee, I decided to try a total revamp of styles and topics. But my strong desire to blog about Malaysia does not die off.

Good medicines are hard to take but it will be best for my improvements.

Thanks Kenny Lee!!!

Citrawarna Malaysia 2005

Friday, July 15th, 2005

Here’s another trip to someplace beautiful. Malaysia Citrawarna 2005. It’s kinda hard to get the tickets. First I went to Sungai Wang to buy the tickets and the MusicValley tells me that the tickets are sold out. Even tickets in Lot 10 are sold out. All tickets are sold out 3 days ago!!! SHIT!!

But luckily I went off to Stadium Merdeka where the event was held to try my luck there, and fortunately tickets are still sold at the entrance. Each ticket cost you around RM 10.00.

So for the suckers that did not want to go with me, BOOO!!!

Citra
A night view of the the festival….

I finally get into the place and I was able to watch the show. I waited so long for the YDP Agong to arrive. The show start at 8.30 pm. I was there by 7.30 pm.

100_9922
The YDP Agong sits on the stage yonder

This festival is on the dances of Malaysia and it ASEAN conterparts. It has dances from Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Phillipines….. can’t remember…

100_9924_1

That’s me doing a ….."Walau! Got LEng Lui weh!!!"

To tell you the truth, the whole dances are ….not that  quite good….

It starts of with a tale of Paresmeswara reaching Malaya. Melaka country. Then it goes on about China coming to Malaya for trade. Next, it is about Islam coming to Malaysia and how Islam has become part of our culture, influencing our dances and living styles.

100_9962

The flag show indicating China influence or something…. Later all these flags are going to be mopping cloths…..walau….. no need buy cloth anymore!!!

The sound system are pretty bad. :-O And you won’t be able to hear a thing on what the narrator is trying to say. So I end up going up and down the stadium looking for a better sound.

100_9959

This is at the stage where the drummers play the drums…Tok Chang Tok Chang!! Where is the lion dance????!!!! No Ang Pau ah? Lai lai lai!!!!

Then as a finale for the show, dancers from other countries performed. The Koreans are the funniest. They swing their head around and around as if they have taken ecstasy. Too bad no photos. They are too far away…..

100_9964

The overall finale….everyone hand in hand….sing Lee Hom’s SARS song…Hand-in-Hand…..

They then gather together and perform a last single dance, the Sarawak dance….
A total of 3,000 dancers took part in this festival.
It’s really great for the cultural fans….but for me? Ehem….you say leh?

Maxis 3G Launch

Friday, July 15th, 2005

I was at the Maxis 3g launching at the KLCC (Kuala Lumpur Convention Center).
One step into it gives a sensation of COOL!!!

The whole area seems funky! There is a skateboard ring at the center of the room, with skateboarders practising up and down. With those great lights circling all over the room.

And holy shit!! Look at the babes! Haha! Those ladies around, showing and explaining 3G applications to the visitors.

So in short, maxis is launching its 3G services. You can have video calls, video mails ( replacing voice mails), and everything concerned with video.
(The call charges are the same as voice calls charges from now until next year)

You can do home surveiliance with 3G and your phone (cost you around RM 900 per camera).

Surf the Net on your lap top using 3G PCMCIA card ( cost you another RM 1000 for the card).
It is relatively fast. The speed is up to 386kbps! That’s Streamyx old speed.

And they claim that it is faster than WiFi…. due to too much user….
One important thing is that if you are in a 3G area (klang valley only), you will be connected to 3G.

If its not available, you will be automatically connected to GPRS or WAP…which is slower. But the important thing is that you will not feel the transition.

Maxis3
One of the skateboarders doing a trick….

They demonstrated watching your favourite soccer games and news channel on the phone.
CNN and MSNBC….is under one package at RM 20 per month. Every other channel is RM 8 per month.

Hmm…. Digi is giving their TV channels for free as long as you are on EDGE right??? Dunno…

Their best claim is that it is the first prepaid that has 3G. True indeed…
But the charges? 1 cent per 1kb…. 1Mb is ….—> RM 10.00

How big is a picture file? Haha…just imagine the money flowing out….
And they tested…with a kb indicator….every webpage opened is at around 40kb to70kb…no downloads yet!!!! That is around RM 0.40 per site!!!!

Well, you could opt for the unlimited package. User pays a flat RM 120 per month for unlimited usage.
Not including services leh…

Maxis1

Download a midi song is at RM 3.00…walau eh…

I also want to be maxis….money flowing into my pockets….

The best part is that is the realtime traffic viewing. Just Rm 0.50 per 30 seconds view. I think it really helps in planning your travel…

There are 3G phones on sale there. Nokia, Motorola and Sony Ericsson.

I ask one of the promoter on whether 3G phones are prone to the threats of spams…
And she said no… but it is internet right? Just imagine your phones filled with spams… You would have to install Add Aware or pop up blocker ….hahaha!!!

Maxis2_2

And guys and gals who want to have a peek of 3G, you can go to KL Convention Center at the back of Suria KLCC. I heard maxis is going to have another show in July.
